Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Saawariya marked the debut of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. With a budget of around 40 crores, the film had high expectations attached to it. However, it failed to impress the audience and was a commercial failure. The slow pace and lack of a strong storyline were the main reasons behind its downfall.
