List of Dumbest Horror Movies Ever Made
Dumbest Horror Movies: Scary movies are made to excite and scare audiences but sometimes they’re so bad that they’re just funny. Here’s a list of the stupidest scary movies ever made—movies that will have you groaning instead of screaming.
1 Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010)
Directed by James Nguyen, “Birdemic: Shock and Terror” is an environmental disaster film with a cult following due to its laughably bad special effects and wooden acting. There is no getting around how terrible this movie is.
2 Troll 2 (1990)
“Troll 2” isn’t just considered one of the worst horror films ever made, it’s commonly ranked as one of the worst films period. Directed by Claudio Fragasso, this movie has a completely nonsensical plot, horrible dialogue, and bad acting. Also there are no trolls in it—only goblins.
3 The Happening (2008)
“The Happening,” directed by M. Night Shyamalan promised suspense and mystery but delivered confusion and unintentional comedy instead. Featuring Mark Wahlberg it posits that plants release toxins causing humans to kill themselves en mass which is equally asinine as it sounds when executed poorly like here.
4 Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
The fourth installment in the “Jaws” franchise is famously stupid all-around with director Joseph Sargent at the helm telling a story about how a shark wants revenge on the Brody family which is obviously ridiculous even for this series plus awful special effects etcetera ad nauseam.
5 The Gingerdead Man (2005)
Directed by Charles Band, “The Gingerdead Man” stars Gary Busey as a gingerbread cookie possessed by the soul of an evil criminal who goes on killing sprees at Christmas time or something equally dumb like that; needless to say it didn’t take much effort to make this one of best horror movies ever made.
6 Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997)
Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith, “Leprechaun 4: In Space” is the fourth movie in the series but this time they go to outer space which doesn’t make sense even within its own logic so obviously it’s all just an excuse for more absurdity and laughs or whatever passes as comedy in these films.
7 Maximum Overdrive (1986)
Stephen King directed “Maximum Overdrive,” a film based on his short story “Trucks.” The idea of machines coming to life and killing people might have worked if done differently but here everything gets executed so poorly that instead of being scary it comes off laughable most times.
8 Sleepaway Camp (1983)
Cult status aside, there’s no denying how dumb “Sleepaway Camp” is with its ridiculous plot twists and over-the-top acting—Robert Hiltzik was behind the camera for this trainwreck which culminates at an ending infamous shock value alone.
9 Slender Man (2018)
Sylvain White directed “Slender Man” hoping to cash in on internet lore but ended up creating a confusing mess filled with jumpscares that don’t actually frighten anyone because nothing about what’s happening makes sense; not only did they fail at making serious horror flick ; instead we got unintentional comedy gold here folks!.
10 The Wicker Man (2006)
Nicolas Cage stars in Neil LaBute’s remake of “The Wicker Man” which has become known mostly for how insane he acts throughout entire film especially during that well-known “Not the bees!” scene otherwise this would just be another forgettable bad movie.
