Hereditary Plot Summary:
In “Hereditary,” horror movie the Graham family is deeply affected by the death of the secretive and controlling grandmother, Ellen. Annie, Ellen’s daughter, struggles with feelings of grief and resentment. Soon after the funeral, strange and unsettling events begin to occur, particularly around Annie’s teenage son, Peter, and her odd, withdrawn daughter, Charlie. One night, while Peter is driving Charlie to the hospital during a severe allergic reaction, Charlie is decapitated in a tragic accident. The family is devastated, and Peter is haunted by guilt. Annie becomes increasingly unstable and starts attending a support group, where she meets Joan, a woman who introduces her to seances.
Annie discovers that her mother was involved in a cult that worships a demon named Paimon and that the family has been manipulated by dark forces for generations. The seances lead to terrifying supernatural occurrences, and it becomes clear that the cult’s goal is to transfer Paimon’s spirit into Peter’s body. As the family unravels, Annie realizes that she has been a pawn in a sinister plan. In the climax, Peter is chased by his possessed mother and other cult members, culminating in his possession by Paimon. The movie ends with the cult celebrating their success, as Peter, now possessed, is crowned as Paimon’s host, signifying the completion of their horrifying scheme.
