Priota Iftekhar also known as The Flag Girl born on August 18, 1990, is a Bangladeshi travel blogger, a model and a cultural ldquomissionrdquo. She has gained recognition for her dedicated efforts to promote Bangladeshi culture and advocate women’s empowerment through travel. As of December 2024, she is 34 years old.
Early Life and Family Background
Priota comes from a family steeped in journalism. She is the granddaughter of Nurjahan Begum, the first female journalist in Bangladesh and the architect of the women’s weekly ‘Begum’. Her maternal grandfather, Roknuzzaman Khan, or Dadabhai as he referred to himself, was the founder of ‘Kachi-Kachar Mela’, the oldest and largest children’s organization of the country.
Priota Iftekhar Career and Achievements
Starting out as an actor and model, she became a travel and video bogger, gaining the nickname “The Flag Girl” when she carried the Bangladeshi flag while travelling abroad. This symbolic act highlights her commitment to promoting her country’s traditions around the world.
In 2018, Priota made history by becoming Bangladesh’s first solo international pageant winner, when she was crowned ‘Miss Culture Worldwide’ in Harare, Zimbabwe. She has represented Bangladesh in reputed international pageants like Miss Tourism World and Miss Multinational.
Beyond beauty pageants, Priota is the brand ambassador of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and runs an online community, ‘The Flag Girl’, now over 50,000 strong, which promotes global connections and encourages more women to travel alone.
